The 2022 blueberry season is right around the corner and we are celebrating our blueberry harvest at Blues Fest on April 30th, May 1st, 7th and 8th. Red, White & Blues Farm, 3250 NE 140th Ave, Williston, FL is having a day full of blueberry treats, live music, delicious food, amazing local arts and crafts from wonderful local artists, and fun-filled farm activities for the whole family to experience.

Haven Hospice Volunteer Fair – May 7Haven Hospice volunteers make a huge difference in the lives of patients and families in the community! If you are interested in volunteering or learning more please join us for a volunteer fair being held Saturday May 7 at the Haven Attic Resale Store, 112 Rodgers Blvd., Chiefland 10 am-12pm. Haven offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for all ages and skill levels, including veteran, patient, retail, pet visitors and more. Williston Tractor Supply Co. Farmers Market – May 7

Come join us May 7th for Tractor supply 1st Farmers Market, Saturday May 7 9 am-1pm, 515 W. Noble Ave., Williston.

This event is free to set up. Want to be a vendor? Contact us and let us know what you are bringing. Vendors please come 45 mins before start time so you can have time to set up. Vendors scheduled so far are FFA selling BBQ sandwiches and chips, Boiled peanuts, Plants, Chickens, Eggs, Homemade soap, Sour dough and sour dough kits, Homemade sauces, Home made vinegars, Homemade candles.

Spring Book Sale – May 7

The Bell Library will be holding its spring book sale on Saturday, May 7th, from 9 am to 1 pm Hundreds of books for all ages and interests will be available. Books are not priced but are available for whatever donation patrons can give. Come out and help support this great all-donation, all-volunteer library. The Bell Library is located at 1140 S. MOTHER’S DAY – MAY 8 Spoken Word Motorcycle Rally – May 13-15

The first annual Spoken Word Motorcycle Rally, hosted by Camp Anderson Anchored, 536 NE 168th Old Town, FL, is an event like no other! Come out and join us May 13 at 3pm to May 15 12pm for good food, great fellowship, and tons of fun! Beautify Bronson Day – May 14

The Town of Bronson is seeking volunteers to help in gathering trash and debris from the sides of roads and streets. Volunteers will gather at Town Hall at 10 am Roll-off containers will be dropped off at at Town Hall May 13 by GFL Environmental and will be picked up at this same location May 16. Those wanting to provide assistance in the cleanup work should reach out to Sue Beaudet via phone at 352-486-2354 or email at townmanager@townofbronson.org.

ARMED FORCES DAY – MAY 21 Chief Theater Hosts Tea Party Fundraiser – May 21

The Suwanee Valley Players are hosting a tea party fundraiser at the Chief Theater, located at 25 E Park Ave in Chiefland on Saturday, May 21 with two seatings to choose from: 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM. They will offer a selection of teas and treats, and sell an assortment of tea pots.

The Victorian-costumed cast of the upcoming Domestic Bliss show will also be on hand.

Tickets are $ 25 per person and can be purchased at www.chieftheatre.com or by calling (352) 493-2787. All proceeds support the Chief.

MEMORIAL DAY – MAY 30 68th Annual Watermelon Festival – June 4

For over a half century, visitors from miles away have come to Chiefland to enjoy our annual Watermelon Festival.

Everyone attending will enjoy a parade, arts and crafts, vendor booths, pageants and watermelon-eating and seed-spitting contests, and a host of other family-fun activities. Festival will be set up at 23 SE 2nd Ave., Chiefland, 8 am-3pm.

The parade begins promptly at 11:00 am at Chiefland Middle High School and travels South down Hwy19. For more information visit www.chieflandwomans club.org.

Tour De Melon – June 4

Hosted by the Suwannee Valley Rotary Club as a way to support local charities, such as the Food4Kids Backpack program, the Tour de Melon is a bike ride offering rides 15 miles to 100 miles! It truly is an amazing event and has something for every cyclist at every level. It’s also a great family ride on the beautiful Nature Coast State Trail.

This years Tour de Melon will be held Saturday, June 4th, starting at Charles Strickland park 2340 Old Fannin ‘Rd., Chiefland. You can register for the event, or obtain additional information on the Tour de Melon Facebook page.

Levy County 4-H summer events & day camps

Bronson – Are you looking for something educational and fun for your youth this summer? If so, look no further! Levy County 4-H will be offering Summer Day Camps throughout the months of June and July. Camps include AG Discovery (8-13 year old), All About Animals (5-7 year old), Cooking Around the World (8-13 year old), Hometown Heroes (8-13 year old), Crafty Clover-buds ( 5-7 year old), Grill Masters (8-13 year old) and Fishing (8-13 Year old).

AG Discovery: June 6th-9th (24 spots)

All About Animals: June 13th – 16th (20 spots)

Cooking Around the World: June 20th- 23rd (12 spots)

Hometown Heroes: June 27th- June 30th (24 spots)

Crafty Cloverbuds: July 11th- July 14th (20 spots)

Fishing: July 25th- 28th (24 Spots)

Registration for our first camp closes on May 25th. Be sure to register early to secure your camper’s spot!

4-H is an all-inclusive youth organization that offers a variety of youth involvement ranging from school-based programs to community clubs. Students are encouraged to join 4-H and find their passion by exploring the many opportunities the program has to offer.
