This, That and the Other | Editorial

Hey Neighbors!

Whew what a weekend. Everyone was out and about and the weather was just about perfect. Kudos to the car and horse show organizers, great 1st events of the season! I saw several candidates out asking for votes, which is exactly the kind of hard work you want to be seeing from the people who want to serve you.

Speaking of elections, next Tuesday is the big day. There are several contested races in the primary, including County Mayor, Sheriff, Constables in District 1 and 3, and Circuit Court Judge. Some of these will have an opponent in the August 4 general election, for others, this election will be it. So, educate yourself and make informed decisions when you go into the polls. Not to brag, but I personally have a perfect voting record. Just how I was raised. My Dad was a veteran, my grandmother was a city alderman and mayor back before women did those kinds of things. It was how she was raised too. Let’s make sure we set the right example for our children. Elections matter.

Mother’s Day is next weekend, make sure you shop local where you can. Handmade jewelry and crafts, manicures and pedicures, clothing, food, zip line, Airbnb getaways, music tickets… you name it, we have it here on the mountain, and down in the valley. Gift certificates are also a GREAT gift for us mommas. Go to www.tnsouthcumberland.com for more gift ideas.

Update on the Coalmont OHV Park grand opening, it looks like the date has been pushed forward sometime in June. The water line has been more challenging than anticipated. Of course, that has not stopped people coming from all over the country to check it out. The parking lot is slam packed every weekend. I hope everyone is putting on their thinking caps on how to start their own business, whether it be a guide service, repair service or parts in between.

Get out there and enjoy this place we call home.

Go Hunter Girl!

Onward. #tnsouthcumberland
