Some movies get high ratings on IMDB just because they star very popular actors. Many of them have a budget exceeding $ 200 million. The third group of much-reviewed movies shows unacceptable scenes. We can list reasons that make movies popular for hours. But today, we are not going to talk about popular movies. Otherwise, we will focus on the underrated movies.
There are too many factors affecting a movie’s popularity. For instance, no movie released after Titanic (in a short period of time, of course) has a high rating. Why? Because Titanic hit the jackpot. It is one of the most popular releases on the globe. Another reason, if all parts of “The Lord of the rings” were released in the same week, at least, one of them would not be so beloved.
So as you see a movie can succeed or fail. No one can guarantee their success and no one can predict their failure. But when we watch a movie that makes us take a look at the way we approach life, we always wonder why no one recommended it to us, why we haven’t known about it, and why it has got so few 5-star reviews .
We are going to talk about a few underrated movies. But you understand that this list could be much longer.
Killing Them Softly (2012)
Directed by: Andrew Dominik
Starring: Brad Pitt, Ray Liotta, Richard Jenkins
Budget: $ 15 million
Worldwide box office: $ 37.9 million
There have been many films made on the topic of card games, hitting the jackpot in a casino, a robbery, and everything else in the same vein. And what is amazing, American film companies still manage to shoot similar projects on this topic but they will succeed if it is cooler and original in their own way. The irreplaceable Ray Liotta again takes part in this movie. His appearance on the screen is already identified with card games or casinos, and it is again extremely interesting to watch how once again someone wants to secure a beautiful life for himself. Surprisingly, this movie has been nominated for a palm branch at the Cannes Film Festival.

Directed by: Karyn Kusama
Starring: Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, Adam Brody
Budget: $ 16 million
Worldwide box office: $ 31.5 million
Jennifer’s Body is a film made by women. This explains the “feminist” bias of the movie. Screenwriter Diablo Cody is best known for her Oscar-winning film Juno. Deciding to try herself in the thriller genre, she portrayed the most terrible evil that she could imagine – a sexy young lady possessed by a demon.
Directed by: Michael Mann
Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Viola Davis, Tang Wei
Budget: $ 70 million
Worldwide box office: $ 19.6 million

Nick is released from prison to help in the investigation: for the successful capture of the attacker, he demands clemency. Mystic Pizza (1988)
Directed by: Donald Petrie
Starring: Annabeth Gish, Julia Roberts, Lili Taylor
Budget: $ 6 million
Worldwide box office: $ 12.7 million
The film tells about three friends who are on the threshold of adulthood. They are very different, but each is bright in its own way. All three have romantic dilemmas at the same time. And they help each other to resolve them.
Sleeping With Other People (2015)
Directed by: Leslye Headland
Starring: Jason Sudeikis, Alison Brie, Jordan Carlos
Budget: $ 0.8 million
Worldwide box office: $ 3.2 million
The movie is more for the adult audience. The scenes are played by adults for adults. So if you expect teenage humor, heaps of gags, and vulgarity, then you are simply not at the right place. This film does not claim to be genius or extraordinary originality. But in comedies, this is not the main thing.
Directed by: James Gunn

Being in his air bubble – an inferior semblance of real life, Dr. Creo runs into infinity, trying to catch the elusive time along with the beautiful Queen of Spain. Sooner or later the end will come, and she knows it very well. The difference between them is that she is able to recognize and accept the inevitability with her head held high, while he fiercely denies reality and believes in the impossible.
